CARB Certification
To meet the new demands of the American market, Vigolungo SpA from December 2008 is certified according to the criteria of ATCM-Airborne Toxic Control Measure - approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This new regulation became effective in the State of California from January 1, 2009, with the aim to reduce the formaldehyde emissions from wood based materials.
Gradually these new environmental standards will certainly be adopted by the rest of the U.S.A.and lead to a drastic reduction of environmental formaldehyde emissions. Formaldehyde is one of the glue resin components used in the production of our panels.
Our company, always sensitive to environmental problems, was certified by TECO (USA) among the first in Italy and Europe as a producer of poplar plywood panels with very low formaldehyde emission (below 0.05 ppm. - Phase 2). This means that Vigolungo is already using adhesives with emission values that will be allowed by the state of California in 2010 only (from January 1, 2009 are enough 0.08 ppm - Phase 1), anticipating times.
To have a benchmark, our CARB ATCM products have emissions at least 10 times lower than the products bonded with traditional adhesives, to the benefit of the environment and quality of life.
